Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
